Local Restaurants

Below are a number of local restaurants within about twenty minutes or so from Las Ramblas. Thanks to Dave Caddy for providing the initial list.

They are organised by the town or area they are in. It is intended that the list be kept up to date, and it may be useful for comments to be posted about your experiences with these restaurants. If you have any additions or comments about those in the list please let me know by emailing me.

When time allows I am hoping to make this a facility that can be updated by any resident. In the meanwhile please provide me with any entry you would like to add, or any updates on existing entries.

Please note that many restaurants are closed on Mondays and in many cases it is advisable to book.

Campoamor Golf Course

Go to Ramblas security gate and exit left. Turn left into Campoamor after 200 yds. Continue to roundabout and turn left towards club house. Turn into clubhouse.

Campoamor Clubhouse: (good views, nice atmosphere, expensive except Menu del Dia)
The Menu del Dia is served daytimes Mon – Fri and is great at 15 euros.

La Regia

Go to Ramblas security gate and exit right, follow uphill for 2 miles, past garden centres. Continue over motorway bridge and turn left in 400 yds. Follow road right and immediately left then turn right into Calle Isla Menorca. Look for Regia Pizza restaurant 200 yds on right just past pedestrian crossing.

Los Alcazares

Get on motorway Autopista del Mediterraneo towards Murcia (San Javier) airport, and take exit after airport. Get off motorway down slip road to roundabout and turn right along main drag. Pass through set of lights after ¾ mile and El Patio II is on right.

El Patio II (average surroundings, but unbelievable if you like lamb)

Huge wood fired lamb spits – ask for bbq lamb or shoulder lamb with house salad.

Los Dolses/Villamartin

Go to Ramblas security gate and exit left, follow bend to right past Campoamor junction and turn right in 200 yds thru archway. Follow straight on down/uphill for 1 mile then turn right at T junction and follow past houses. Shops and restaurants complexes 300 yds are on the right. Park and you will see:

Gran Chino (great menu del dia at 4.95 euros, lunch and evenings) Tel: 966 764 345

(Pass Gran China, immediately turn right at junction, then U turn left at roundabout for Villamartin with its square of restaurants)

Los Montesinos

Follow directions to San Miguel, past Gala Restaurant and straight on. Do not go left or right thru San Miguel, and continue following signs to Los Montesinos/Benjofar for 10 mins, over motorway bridges until you reach Los Montesinos.

La Pueblo III (good food, reasonable price – lunchtimes and evenings)
On entering Montesinos, stop before first major lights and La Pueblo is on left.

La Rosa (stunning Spanish food, Menu del Dia is 8 euros! – lunchtimes only)

On entering Los Montesinos, stop before first major lights and park as for La Pueblo. Then cross to right hand side of road, and fork left parallel to main road. La Rosa is 200 yds on left. Everything in Spanish, so point at other people's food.

Mil Palmeras

Go to Ramblas security gate and exit right, follow uphill for 2 miles, past garden centres. Continue over motorway bridge and get on N332 towards Autopista del Mediterraneo and Murcia (san Javier) airport. At first roundabout follow towards AP7 motorway, at second roundabout take a left signed “Mil Palmeras”. Follow down and turn right at T junction. There is an area on right after about several hundred yards with several restaurants:

Restaurant Oasis: Near beach, nice food generally and good Sunday lunch for 12.5eu

Restaurant Los Pescados: Flamenca dancing on Wednesdays and Fridays, nice food generally, especially good is fish cooked in salt.

Playa Flamenca

Go to Ramblas security gate and exit right, follow uphill for 2 miles, past garden centres. Continue over motorway bridge down to N332 junction. Follow “Alicante” sign onto N332. Go straight over 1st roundabout (with stone pyramid), straight on at next roundabout (Consum), turn left at next roundabout (Lidl). Immediately turn left and road swings to right then park after 300 yds near shopping area.

Spud Murphys (great fish and chips, cooked in lard)
On ground level, book table or take away.

To get to Harlequin, when you turned left at Lidl roundabout, do not immediately turn left again, but go straight on, along dual carriageway, across a junction after 1/3 mile, and Harlequin is 200 yds on right.

Punta Prima

Possibly for a special meal perhaps on the last night of holiday? - expensive >£30 a head - excellent food, wine and service - large bar area inside and out with beautiful bay views from terrace. Well used by Spanish for weddings etc. All amenities including restrooms etc excellent. Off N332 towards Torrevieja - turn right opposite Cerabano - slowly down heavily pot-hoiled road towards Punta Prima - restaurant is few hundred yards down on right hand side with car park in front - looks a bit like a village hall.

Rebate

On entering San Miguel, turn left at sign “Rebate” 10.5 km). Follow twisty road for 10.5 km and you will see “Restaurant Rebate” on right next to church.

San Miguel De Salinas

Directions to San Miguel: go to Las Ramblas security gate and exit left. Turn left into Campoamor after 200 yds. Continue to roundabout and turn left towards club house. Turn right just before club house and follow down to T junction, then ¾ mile to T junction with main road where you turn right. After 2 miles you enter outskirts San Miguel, and can go up to traffic lights.

Meson De Prada (11 euros for great 3 course Menu del Dia – lunch and evenings)

On entering San Miguel from Las Ramblas, turn left immediately at traffic lights and take 2nd right after 200 yds – restaurant 200 yds on right. (closed Thursdays)

Gala (14eu for great 3 courses – evenings only)

On entering San Miguel from Las Ramblas, go through traffic lights, round past church, left at next lights, and gala is 300 yds on left, combined with furniture shop. (closed Sundays)

La Cuevas (expensive but nice atmosphere – evenings only)

On entering San Miguel from Ramblas, turn right around ring road before traffic lights, La Cuevas is 700 yds on left, up a one way road, so park and walk last bit.

Near San Miguel
Follow directions to San Miguel, past Gala Restaurant and follow signs to Torrevieja. On main road, follow south 5 mins to major roundabout. Take first right (small camino road signed) and follow signs to Rancho Blanco down long dirt track.

Ranco Blanco: great food and atmosphere, reasonable price – lunchtimes and evenings

San Pedro Del Pinatar/Mar Menor

Get on motorway Autopista del Mediterraneo towards Murcia (San Javier) airport, and take exit immediately after tunnel, signed San Pedro Del Pinatar. Go left around roundabout and back under motorway to next roundabout in 200 yds. Take 3rd exit left to “playas”, go past petrol station on left after 100yds and continue straight on across next two roundabouts. Keep straight on this road about 1.5 miles until it narrows and U turns around a one way system. At this point park. You will find several “Menu del Dia” bar/restaurants around and a few roads back from the sea and marina.

Restaurants in San Pedro/Mar Menor are similar to many others but this is a scenic place to eat with the beach and marina.

San Pedro Del Pinatar Marina

Restaurant Porto Chico at Club Nautico Villa de San Pedro. Pleasnt restaurant with fabulous views over the marina. Not cheap. See website for details www.portochico.com.

Torrevieja

Go down to Consum roundabout and turn left onto N332 towards Torrevieja. After several roundabouts and approx 3 miles turn off towards Torrevieja (signed Torrevieja and San Miguel DE Salinas), follow through several traffic lights for 1.5 miles until you see signs on right for “Big Burger” and “El Capricio” on right – turn right here and restaurant is 20yds on right, overlooking the sea.

Restaurant L’Arlequin
Good location, great Spanish food – e.g. Mussels, vegetable soup, lamb casserole etc

Go down to Consum roundabout and turn left onto N332 towards Torrevieja. After several roundabouts and approx 4 miles turn off towards Torrevieja (signed Torrevieja and Creviente), go down to roundabout and turn left. Go straight on thru several roundabouts passing “MacDonalds” and “Carrefour” on right until you see “China Xu” at a roundabout on the right. TR at this roundabout and immediately left for parking.

China Xu
This is a Chinese restaurant that provides “all you can eat” for 7.5 euros. Three courses, but main attraction is that you can select your own main course, your own sauce, and it is cooked in a wok for you while you wait.
Very big so no need to book, never knowingly closed.
